John Petty was born in El Campo, Texas, and graduated from Texas State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.  After brief employment in banking, John began his real estate career.  Along with real estate brokerage, John Petty has experience in land development and appraisals, has been an expert witness in court cases, and has raised cattle for a number of years.  Marvin Trochta, John's partner, is a graduate of the University of Houston and has been selling real estate since 1967.  Together, John and Marvin have combined real estate experience of fifty-nine years.

The John Petty team consists of a full service real estate brokerage company.  John heads up the farm, ranch, and commercial division, while Marvin is in charge of the residential department.  Marvin and John reverse roles occasionally to accommodate individual clients.
